Brixton Reserve is a sloping green reserve with 96 concrete steps climbing the hill to Manly Village Shopping Centre from Manly Park, the Bowling Greens, Tennis Courts, and Big Manly Beach.

Manly Park extends from the foot of Brixton Reserve to Big Manly Beach at the Manly Sailing Club through the distant trees middle right in the picture.
The nearest trees in this park view are Podocarpus Totaras about 13 metres high. In New Zealand's native forests they grow to 30 m high with trunks 2.5m in diameter and can live for 400 years. Totara timber is easily worked and very durable. In Maori culture it is used for canoe building and carving.
