About 2 kilometres east of Army Bay is Huaroa Point, the north east tip of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
The small "Wooded Island" and the north end of "Tiritiri Matangi Island" are on the right hand side of the picture above Huaroa Point, and the Moehua Range on the Coromandel Peninsula is hazy in the far distance.
Offshore reefs all along the coast from Army Bay to Huaroa Point are hazards sailors need to be aware of, as well as being interesting fishing and diving areas.
